Pompano Beach, FL- On July 31st, 2011 the Wreck Racing League returned to the clear blue waters of Pompano Beach, FL for the 2nd Annual Gold Coast Underwater Grand Prix. This year’s race track, the SS Copenhagen, provided a shallow water course for optimal safety and maximum action. Hosted by South Florida Diving Headquarters, Formula H2O Racing returned to the Gold Coast to crown Michael Vivona, powered by a Dive X Cuda DPV, the Grand Champion of the race.
The Gold Coast Grand Prix is the second installment on the 2011 Formula H2O racing circuit. For the second year in a row, the Pompano race boasted the highest attendance with a crowd inclusive of both SCUBA and freedivers, the Wounded Warrior Project, Divers for Heroes, and snorkelers who viewed the race from the surface…..Of course, ScubaRadio's Mermaid Toni and Greg The Divemaster were on hand to cheer on the racers as well!
