ScubaRadio on Radio America!

Our shows have enjoyed an impressive ammount of media exposure over the past year. An article in USA Today, a new book, and Sharknado 3 just to name a few. Radio stations across the US have taken notice and we are pleased to announce a new agreement with Radio America to handle satelitte distribution and affiliate relations for ScubaRadio, World of Boating, and Just Plane Radio.

 

The first and only nationally syndicated radio show devoted to diving.ScubaRadio  ScubaRadio's mission is to promote all forms of diving and to keep current divers active by presenting useful dive information spiked with a little attitude and irreverence. Listeners have called it radio's answer to Shark Week! ScubaRadio broadcasts live on Radio America every Saturday from 3-5pm EST and then is archived as a podcast for online listening worldwide.

 

World of BoatingThe first and only nationally syndicated radio show devoted to the boating lifestyle. Each week the WOB crew navigate the latest boating news and information as listeners call in with questions and stories about their experiences on the water. World of Boating broadcasts live on Radio America every Saturday from 2-3pm EST and then is archived as a podcast for online listening worldwide.

 

Just Plane RadioThe first and only nationally syndicated radio show devoted to the aviation lifestyle and learning how to fly. Imagine the hosts sitting in an airport hangar chatting about a wide variety of aviation issues, including the relatively easy process and freedom associated with becoming a private pilot. Just Plane Radio broadcasts live on Radio America every Saturday from 11-Noon EST and then is archived as a podcast for online listening worldwide.

Latest Thriller from Eric Douglas features ScubaRadio!

Lyinfish692x1024Eric Douglas has been a good friend and regular guest on ScubaRadio for many years. He's also an exceptional writer and incorporates real-life diving elements and locations into his short stories. We encourage you to check out all of his work. However, his latest release includes characters inspired by the ScubaRadio crew!

It's the ninth story in Eric's Withrow Key series. The backdrop is a bypassed key in the Florida Keys where life moves a little slower and a little weirder. The ScubaRadio crew easily fit into this work of fiction that includes Greg The Divemaster using his Tae Kwon Do skills to take out a bad guy. We told you it was fiction. However, it is pure entertainment and even more so for those familiar with the colorful cast of ScubaRadio!

Greg The Divemaster in Sharknado 3!

Sharknado3Greg_TaraReid-S3_570x300Entertainment Tonight got it right and the rumors were true!

ScubaRadio's Greg The Divemaster was hired to play a “sweaty Florida tourist” in Sharknado 3 when the production filmed at Universal Studios Florida earlier this year. Theme park security questioned his connection to the production 3 different times during the one day shoot. Never breaking character and nailing the part, they literally thought he was a sweaty Florida tourist!

The first sign Hollywood had come calling was when Greg was spotted in the background of a photo Tara Reid has posted on her Instagram account. The photo then appeared on an Entertainment Tonight segment airing around the world that same week.

Greg had signed a non-disclosure agreement, but the secret was now out.

His standard response to the numerous calls from ScubaRadio friends, family, and fans was; “Out of respect for my fellow actors and dedication to the craft, I have no comment at this time.” (Oh Hell No!)

Sharknado 3 debuted July 22, 2015 and Greg's gag order is now lifted (and we likely won't ever hear the end of it). Check out frames below from Sharknado 3 and see if you can spot Greg next time you watch what many consider “the worst movie ever made!”

USA Today credits ScubaRadio as dive news source!

Joining us for this special adventure will be Cathryn Castle, the Executive Editor of Dive Training magazine. Cathryn is a member of the Women Divers Hall of Fame, holds instructor ratings from NAUI, PADI, SDI/TDI and DAN. She has a United States Coast Guard 100-ton master captain's license and is medically qualified as an EMT and hyperbaric chamber tender. Cathryn has spent her entire career in the diving industry. Prior to joining Dive Training in 1997, her occupations have included co-owning a dive center in the Caribbean, scuba instructor, boat captain, yacht crew member, EMT, photojournalist, sales associate for Uwatec USA and underwater model. A natural storyteller at heart, having Cathryn onboard will be a real treat for all!Scubapro

What it’s like to be us in Nevis!

We shot video of one of an audio segment from our Nevis broadcast and this is the result! All footage was caught using GoPro cameras, Light and Motion Sola dive lights, PolarPro filters, and a quikpod Explorer II.
